St Rose Skirt

I had these sleep pants from my college that I LOVED. Somehow, the seam up the back ripped, even though they were about 5 times too big....go figure. Anyway, they stayed in my "clothes to do something with" pile until I got bitten by the crafting bug.

I was a moron and too the waistband off (before I realized what I wanted to do to the pants). I cut thelegs off to get the length I wanted. Then I cut up the crotch. After that, I sewed the waistband back on, which resulted in about 2 1/2 inches of extra fabric in the back. Oops! Alot of maneuvering later, and I have a semi-respectable skirt (its a bit on the short side). I didn't really hem the bottom, but I ran a diagonal stitch across the bottom about 1/4 in from the bottom, so I have a little fray, but it won't completely come apart. I also kept in the original pockets from the pants.
